Lantana On The Way
Cincinnati Rapper Lantana Signs w/ Polo Grounds Music/RCA/Sony Records
The hip-hop scene is buzzing like crazy about the recent signing of Cincinnati rapper Lantana to Polo Grounds Music/RCA/Sony Records. Born Marcus Waldon, the 25 year old rapper burst onto the scene at the 2012 Beats Summer Concert Series sponsored by Pepsi. He shared the stage with industry heavy weights like Young Jeezy, Big K.R.I.T, Yelawolf, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Scrappy, and Kid Ink earning him five Ohio Hip-Hop Award nominations that year.
In January of 2013 Lantana caught the attention of famed Hip-Hop manager James Rosemond. As the son of famed entertainment impresario Jimmy ”Henchman” Rosemond, James Rosemond, Jr. has grown up in the entertainment industry, learning the game, having his dad and industry mentors Ron Spaulding, former president of Fontana Distribution ( Universal Music Group Independent distribution arm); Wendy Day (who negotiated the biggest distribution deal for Cash Money with Universal) and Jay Brown (President and 1/4 co-founders of Roc Nation) assist him in gaining invaluable insight on the inner workings of the industry. James found that he shared the same passion and drive for finding and nurturing talent as his father, so when he heard about the talented Cincinnati rapper, Marcus Waldon, aka Lantana, he decided to join forces with Ohio videographer/manager Dan Gotti and take Lantana to the next level. Combining their business acumen and creative skills, the team has positioned Lantana to become the next big artist to blow.
“Lantana is very talented,” says Rosemond, when the rapper did a New York City media tour recently, where he walked a red carpet behind the “Mob Wives” stars, met with well-known industry insiders and was filmed for a segment of an upcoming reality show. “We work hard, all day, every day,” continues Rosemond, echoing the sentiments of Lantana who really believes true hustle pays off. His first single "All Hustle No Luck" made his mixtape "Lantana On The Way" one of the most downloaded of last year. With the promotional mind of co-manager Dan Gotti the Lantana movement grew stronger catching the attention of Industry veteran Bryan Leach who offered Lantana a deal with his Polo Grounds Music Label.
